okay so i have always had a really low self esteem.i wandered if anyone had any ideas on how to build it up? iv never thought im pretty except occasionally like when im all dressed up for somthing formal.these guys say they like me n then i second guess them n im like how can you like me? its not like im extra-ordinary or anything.i mean i see myself as a pretty typical girl.i love love to read and spend a lot of time reading.i love kids n love pretty much anything thats active.my mom has always called me her quiet one....so i never got it when these guys that were popular cute  ....n all kinds of other stuff would ask me out....i struggle with depression some what because i dont see anything special about me....any advice?

oh dont say your nothing special! you are God's creation, He loves you no matter how you look! Your Gods Princess! I my self have MAJOR insicurities(sp) and sometimes a low-self esteem, and i could go on bout all of them, my big one is beauty,... so these past couple weeks i have decided to pray to God that he will give beauty on the inside and out. i want to be a beautiful young woman for God, its very hard some days. but you can get through it.. i will pray for you, i do know how you feel, although im not depresed. Just be praying to God,, here is a verse that might help,.
Psalm 45:11
"The King is enthralled by your beauty, honor Him for He is your Lord."

ok self esteem... you need to be careful it doesn't become vanity.
for myself, my self esteem was pretty low, and what helped me was having friends who built me up, treating myself like i was pretty, learning to accept that God thinks i'm amazing, and telling myself that it didn't matter what everyone else thought. learning to love who you are, but not in a vain way, is what you need to do. the bible has alot of passages that explain about God making you who you are for a reason. Find those verses and claim them over yourself  |

| I know it's important to know that we are special and beautiful God but sometimes it's like you need more than that! I never had esteem issues, but after a very painful relationship I had big issues, and still work on them. Read Captivating. It's about helping women see how the are really beautiful to God and others. I NEVER look in the mirror, but I've been trying to look at myself and find something to be thankful for...Some people say it is vain, or can quickly turn that way....but I'll tell myself that I do have a nice smile and a laugh I can use to cheer people up. Or when I get frustrated that I have to wear glasses, I remind myself that though my eyes are bad, my teeth are perfect!LOL Not sure if that makes any sense.... |

I think every girl out there struggles somehow with low self esteem. I know I do from time to time. I used to think I wasn't so pretty at all, and why would any guy like me?
What really helped was reading books like "Authentic Beauty" by Leslie Ludy. I still don't think highly of myself in the beauty department and I would seriously question how a guy could like me if I one ever did show interest.  For the most part, just remember that:
1. You are precious in God's eyes
2. You are beautiful in God's eyes
3. You are God's beautiful, precious princess |

What I mean about "go" is that we are important to God no matter what we think about are selves.
If you don't have much self esteem it doesn't mean Gods just going to let you "go" thinking, "Well I'd had a plan for her life, but since she has low self esteem I guess I'm going have to let her go.
Maybe I'm geting off the subjet. I guess this is more on the lines of Gods plan for someone.

| I had very bad self esteem issues what I did was stopped hanging out with my friends that pulled me down and made me feel like I wasn't pretty because thoes aren't true friends. I surrounded my self with my friends that told me I was pretty and that told me that God thought I was pretty and that's what matters is what God thinks. One bible verse I love is "You were wonderfuly and beautifuly made!" I think that verse is in Romans but I kinda forgot |

| i dont have much time, but I left out... if you dont get the love etc from your dad that helps build your self esteem (not saying you dont...) just being around positive godly males who could be a dad figure, (like at church just how you'd normally talk to people, not anything weird) helps with that for those who wanna know |

| thanks so much everyone for what you said its so incredibly sweet! that alone makes you guys beautiful to me! <3 thanks Steadfast it makes sense JoJo i have an awesome dad but hes never been real emotional like telling us things.iv heard him maybe three or four times in my life say i look beautiful.hes never done it with any of my sister n i have 5.i guess its jus the way he is....btw Clare i loved what you said made me smile! |

I agree with everybody, especially Steadfast and Nicole.
Anybody who slips and starts believing the lie that our worth is based off of earthly standards (what we do, like like, etc...) is going to have a low self-esteem. |

and btw, the dad thing i mentioned b4...
it's from a study we did recently, and idk, you kinda need to know the story to get what I'm saying hehe.
It's in the "What teens need to know about sex" stuff by pastor John Burns...
him and his wife Helen Burns do alot of stuff about relationships and what girls need and what guys need to be healthy and do things the Godly way |
