I don't understand why guys ask girls out (even for dances) over text or AIM. It's so informal, and I think immature. Is it because they're afraid of rejection or nervous? It just really annoys me, cause I think a true gentlemen would ask in person. This has happened to me a couple times, and I reallyyy struggled to say nicely 'no', when I reallyy wanted to just delete the text.  Any thoughts or comments  |

Madison, you pretty much nailed it... for me, anyway.
Although, for me, when I asked girls to go to a dance, a.) I wasn't "asking her out", and b.) I had no idea when I'd next see her... so... yeah. That said, if I had, I probably would have because it's "safer".
Oh yeah... next time it happens, you should say something like "I have a policy- if it's not in person, I don't consider it." (Of course, if you'd take it over the phone, you might want to add that.) |

Yeah, I feel the exact same way. When a guy asks me to a dance or like on a date via txt or IM I get annoyed. It's like they dont think enough of me to actually say it to my face. and you can never tell if they're being serious or just asking you because their friend dared them too. I just tell them "If you can't say it to my face, don't say it at all" and they kinda get the message. (but you can probably tell from earlier posts everywhere that Im not really pro txt or internet relationships if you never see them in real life or talk to them in real life...) but yeah... I agree with both of your statements! Like I have decided if a guy asked me to my face, to go out with him and I did like him, id tell him, even if it was a joke, cuz it's better to tell the truth and live with the consequences than to lie and then never know if he was being serious or not (and I have no idea why i wrote that, but whatever  )

| I personally prefer to call her up and ask her out over the phone. It's not totally impersonal, but I don't have to worry about looking nervous, just sounding nervous haha. |

| i agree with you madison, i think a guy should call a girl up and ask her on the phone if he couldn't ask her out in person. but i feel the best way to ask a girl out is face to face. aim and texting i feel are not the best way to do it. |

| HAHA i like that. But yeah, over the phone is o.k. cuz it's way more personal than a txt. but it makes me feel like he actually cares if he can be a man and say it to my face. I recently had a guy tell me he liked me in a txt and I was like "Well doesnt that make me feel special *sarcastically*) |
