Just curious what you guys do to stay in shape or what you eat, maybe.

I absolutely hate playing sports but I don't do any kind of exercise and it's catching up with me. I took my dogs for a walk (for about 20 minutes) and almost had a heartattack when I got home, haha. I thought about pilates but it's difficult on your own. I'm moving to Reno, Nevada in July for school but I don't know if I want to join a gym and I really don't want to start jogging around the streets of Reno by myself.

I think part of it is really forcing yourself to be active when you don't have a group of friends with you. All my friends do sports already, hah. I don't know, any suggestions would be great.

Thank you guys.

Not much, really.....
Mum takes care of our eating - we have regular meals and you could say we are obsessed with health food - but hey, can't complain because I don't get sick very often! As for exercising - well, I go for a 20 minute walk perhaps 2-3 times a week with Mum and doggit (well, her name is Bella, but doggit is one of her many nicknames) and I try to just go outside in the yard and skip or play badminton with my sister....
Oh - I have to go do the dishes. Gotta eat - gotta wash dishes!

God Can.

I do crunches every morning, and push-ups, and it works well for me. I have health issues so I'm really careful about what I can eat, but I'm pretty much the one that cooks meals here- rice/rye/white flour, soy milks (I only use it in cereal and cooking, so I don't really know what it tastes like out of a glass), salads, lots and lots of chicken =]

I've also started taking vitamin-B, drinking green tea (or variations thereof, like Chai), and using a paste of oatmeal/green tea (mixed in a blender) for my face. I like it better than a lot of the store-bought stuff that burns my face =]

During warmer weather I ride my bike a few miles every day, and like Adelynn I do sit-ups and push-ups and stretch. And playing sports does help, even if you hate it. Some sports I don't enjoy but I participate anyway to be with my friends.

i played softball for 8/9 seasons up until 2 years ago and i was never very "physically fit". not overweight, but i definitely could've lost some pounds. only when i hit 16 did i randomly lose 25 pounds. ironic? haha.

i would say, just eating healthy and doing what you can, when you can, is the best anybody could do. i never work out but i'm one of the healthiest eaters out of all my friends. i rarely ever have fried/packaged foods (1. because it's gross and 2. because the MSG - monosodium glutomate - in most chips, etc. makes me get instant migraines). i love riding my bike and i'll probably do that alot this spring/summer. pilates/tae-bo (the more uppity version) are cool. order billy blanks tae-bo videos and you'll love them, haha. that's all i'll say about that. :]

Thank you everyone! I'm thinking maybe crunches&simple stuff in the morning, maybe ride my bike to school on good days. You guys made it seem simple. I just have to set a plan and make myself do it now. Billy Blank's tae-bo looks way hardcore, haha.

That sounds amazing Adelynn. How do you make this? Could you share your recipe? [=

LOL Im a dancer, so dancing is a big part of my fitness/cardio workout, if you will lol
I do pilates, whenever I remember to lol, i could do better :D
and I run up stairs whenever I have to go up stairs... I donno why, but it's fun, and it's sorta like a workout :P
Um... I do warmups from Jazz class etc, cuz they involve situps, pushups, stretches etc lol.
And jogging, a little bit lol. But yeah...

Im not too much of a health freak, but I don't eat fatty meat, and I try to eat my veges and fruit, though, I don't really eat enough of those... and I don't normally count calories and eat practically anything (like Mc D's or Junkfood...) all the time, but Im getting better at not eating it so much and I also should cut down on fizzy...
But if you guys looked at me, you wouldn't think I eat as much as i do, and you'd probably think I had an eating disorder, cuz Im so thin... but yeah... :D

Turn up the music
Turn it up loud
Take a few chances
Let it all out
'Cause you won't regret it
Lookin' back from where you have been
'Cause it's not who you knew
And it's not what you did
It's how you live

I have read somewhere that crunches make you look fatter if you are overweight (like me). Overall, though running, jogging, and walking are better for your health because it gets your cardiovascular system going and it gets rid of body fat all around. Crunches just build muscle, not that you shouldn't do them, though.

Sure!! I don't have a recipe, but I make some green tea and when it's cooled off a little I put almost half a cup in a blender with maybe a tablespoon of oatmeal. I like it to be more watery than oatmeal-y *smile* so I mix it up really really well. Plus my dad hates it when I clog up the sink, so I just make sure it's blended really well.
And I've found that it only lasts about a day, so don't make a lot... =]

I cut out the processed white foods and went to whole grain and cut out sugar (not completely). Once you start woking out it becomes almost addictive. I've been working out for five years now. Just don't give up and don't be too hard on yourself. I lost 40lbs i know you can do it if you try. Good luck and God bless.
P.S you can get a killer workout and have a blast by taking Zumba classes!

Pushups, pullups, situps, squats, and lunges, along with running 6-8 miles a day (excluding Sunday) for Track. This and I only have organic food in my house because my dad is severely allergic to pesticides and preservatives so we almost always eat well.

Almost anybody can run or swim, and doing cardio exercises is really good for you. The other stuff is good if you'd like to tone up, and eating well is good for losing fat.

Here's a diet plan according to the CrossFit website that I modified for myself.

What Should I Eat?
In plain language, base your diet on garden vegetables, especially greens, lean meats, fruits, nuts and seeds, a moderate amount of starch (breads/potatoes/pasta), and almost no sugar (prepackaged food in boxes such as Cheez-its, candies, milk-chocolate, soda, etc.). That's about as simple as we can get. Many have observed that keeping your grocery cart to the perimeter of the grocery store while avoiding the aisles is a great way to protect your health. Food is perishable--the stuff in boxes probably isn't good for you. The stuff with long shelf life is all suspect. If you follow these simple guidelines you will benefit from nearly all that can be achieved through nutrition.

Do you eat fish? Some vegans I know eat fish but not other kinds of meat--if so then I would eat lots of farm-raised fish (the wild stuff often has high-mercury content) Otherwise, eat lots of nuts and high-quality (preferably 'natural') peanut butter, milk, and other nutrient rich foods. Being a vegan makes it harder to get your daily nutrition, but it's still possible if you put the effort in.

http://www.vegsoc.org/info/protein.html has a list of protein sources you could look at.

that's great that you're vegan, Purpose! for me, I could never do it, though. I am a carnivore through and through, haha. is there any specific reason you are?

In response to "Mike", I do not eat fish. I am curious as to why you think "Being a vegan makes it harder to get your daily nutrition."....and for protein.....lol, I am not taking shots at anyone but this is one of the funniest things people ask me, "Where do you get your protein?"

In response to "emilyjanelle", a lot of times people think I am vegan for religious reasons. That is not so. The reason eat vegan is because it is the healthiest way to eat.

If anyone has questions feel free to ask.

I've definitely heard that it's the healthiest way to eat, and I believe it- I just also could never give up meat!!! Do people who eat vegan not eat other animal products, such as diary? I get so confused about what it means... it seems like some do, and some don't

Vegan
–noun
a vegetarian who omits all animal products from the diet.*Source-Dictionary.com*

I think you, Adelynn, are referring to vegetarian.
Oh, and about protein, I have a question for Mike.
What is the largest land Animal? Hopefully you answered the elephant. (If there is something bigger let me know.) Where does the elephant get its protein?
