Hey guys,

I want to hear some of your stories of how you and your Sweet Heart met or how your parents got together. My parents were set up by this older woman in the church and our whole family still are very close with her! It's so fun how God plans every detail!

Well, my parents actually best friends through high school, my mother was pretty and popular, while my daddy was not as attractive and kinda nerdy  But they were close guy-girl friends, and my daddy ended up having a huge crush on my mother... at first my mother was suprised and said no. She felt so uncomfortable being friends anymore. But my daddy never gave up on her, and through her roughest times in that crazy high school life, he was there for her, and my mother and daddy soon fell in love. Now they've been married for almost 20 years =]

My mum and dad met at a YFC event (Youth For Christ)
My mum was gorgeous, and my dad was decent looking, but mum totally didnt like him that way.
Dad and mum lived on opposite sides of South Africa, so whenever my dad was in Mum's town, he'd visit her. He also called her every week. Dad never gave up. one time he went to see mum at her parents house, and my grandma answered the door, took one look at dad and said to my mum, "You're gonna marry that man" and of corse mum was like "NO WAY!! IM SO NOT MARRYING HIM" basically this went on for like 8 years, then they finally got married! I hope my future husband would do that for me!!!

Turn up the music
Turn it up loud
Take a few chances
Let it all out
'Cause you won't regret it
Lookin' back from where you have been
'Cause it's not who you knew
And it's not what you did
It's how you live

Hey, this is a cool thread!

My parents - married almost 44 years - met at their friends' wedding.  My dad was the best man, my mom was the maid of honor.  They fell in love and less than 6 months later, got married!

My husband and I met online.  I was a college student in Tennessee, and my husband apparently liked my profile and started sending me instant messages.  :-)  I thought that was a goofy way to meet someone, so I avoided meeting him for a year!!!  But once we met (over a huge plate of cheese fries at a diner), we were inseparable.  I knew I loved him and that I would marry him on our second date.  We were at a Super Bowl party, and he was down on the ground playing with his friends' kids, and that's when I knew he was the one for me.  We dated for almost 2 years, and got married in October 2000.

He's my best friend!

Well, I know myself and I know I could go on forever...so let me make this as short as possible.

My Parents met at church. My daddy was the associate pastor of the church while my mom was a member. They didn't really have a "friendship", it was more like a "counseling relationship". They would tell each other their problems and would ask each other to pray so God could help them. My daddy would ask my mom to help him pray for his future wife and my mom would do the same. When in reality they were actually praying for each other! About 2 years later, they got married

I have my plans, you have your plans, but God has his plans!

♥Gaby♥

God bless, today, tomorrow and always.......

okay, my parents met in college and got married about 2 years later. Just pretty much the typical romance. So yeah.

Well, my mum and dad met over icecream. Dad was a Ranger and Mum was a girl guide. Anyway, Mum's Mum (my nana) dragged her and my aunt along to help cater for a Ranger's camp. Mum was serving the dessert (fruit salad and icecream). Dad LOVES icecream, so he asked Mum for more icecream instead of fruit salad. They kept meeting up after that, and hey, 20 years married next year!
I love hearing how older couples met each other! Some stories are pretty amazing. Makes me wonder about my own yet-to-unfold story. It's also a bit scary to hear how some couples knew each other since forever.......I know a couple boys from 'since forever'....so yeah....
:) :D

my boyfriend and I met at the same youthgroup...I noticed how godly and sweet he was to all the girls. But, he was into one of my friends. We were all a close group, and hung out alot...sometimes he would facebook message me asking about our mutual friend.. but him and my friend did not end up working out. The next year he went off to college, and was really lonely and started calling/emailing me alot. I didnt mind because i already knew I liked him ALOT. After about 3 months of getting to know each other, he told me he liked me. I was surprised when he told me he and my dad had already went out to lunch so he could ask me out! We have now been dating for 9 months.

He is my first boyfriend and I am 20 now...to all the younger girls, dont go out with just ANYONE. wait for the one who pursues you, and knows how to treat a girl. One who truly loves the Lord, and is willing to get to know you before jumping into a relationship. I am soo thankful I took the time to become best friends with my man before we were even dating.

that's a great story, sarah. i'm totally 50/50 on liking this guy right now, because he likes my best friend, so i don't want to like him. very similar to your story! i'd laugh if i ended up like you. :]

You may as well come quiet.

How my parents met was, my mom was best friends with my dads cousin in high school. So when he was stationed here (he was in the army.) he of course had to visit his family. And started hanging out at his cousins house so of course he met my mom. Well he got sent to Vietnam and they kept on writing to each other while he was there and they ended up falling in love. Getting married not too many years later. And have now been married for almost 37 years now.

my dad was my mom's youth leader for LIYFC. they started dating shortly after she graduated. they're 5 years apart. then they got married her sophomore year of college and had me five years later.

Because I was created by God and for His glory, I will magnify Him as I respond to His great love. My desire is to make knowing and enjoying God, the passionate pursuit of my life. - Louie Giglio
