I think it's a fun idea... in NZ we don't really have prom, or homecoming etc... where I live we maybe have one big formal at the end of the year... but it's not like everyone's like "OMG!!! I NEED A DATE!!!" haha, we just go to hang with friends etc.

but we do have the annual northland (my region) YFC Ball, and that's like a BIG event, but not many go... maybe 250 or so... but we get all dressed up fancy and have fun! it's just a night to go all out for fun, and have a great time (and cuz it's christian, there's no dodgy stuff going on...)

Turn up the music
Turn it up loud
Take a few chances
Let it all out
'Cause you won't regret it
Lookin' back from where you have been
'Cause it's not who you knew
And it's not what you did
It's how you live

Can anyone explain the Point of prom?
Is there a point to prom? Fun? Is that what life is all about?
Idk, maybe because I'm homeschooled, and i don't think anyone would ask me to go even if my parents would allow me to go, maybe i'm just biased, but I honestly don't get the meaing of prom.

i personally like prom. but i don't really see a point. i feel bad for my single friends who feel bad because they don't have a date and they feel like they have to have a date and that makes me kind of hate prom but i've been invited to a prom last year and this year i have mine and i've invited my boyfriend and if we're still dating then i'll probably go to his next year. so i guess i'm a fan of prom. i dont' think there's anything wrong with it, at least not that i saw last year.

I've never been to prom, but I think how you act at or because of prom 9or anything else) is what matters. If someone where going so that they could show off, get drunk and end up with the next person in line... I'd say their motives need to be questioned. If it's to dress up and have a great time with friends, I don't think there is anything wrong with that. I personally love going to the college dances to wear something fun and pretty and have a nice time =]

I didn't go to my prom. It was at a catering hall and so tickets were $85 a person but you still had to get a dress and find a way of getting from pre-prom at our local park to prom about 20-30 minutes away, plus the hall wouldn't give the high school the biggest room and so 400 people had to squeeze into one of the rooms. I heard that you weren't able to get around in the room because the tables were so close together and that the dance floor was too full. Instead of prom, I went to my youth group's pool party (which was happening on the same night) and had a lot more fun because I was closer to my friends at church then I was a school (even though I almost got killed playing mellon ball in the pool).
